Halifax College is situated just off-site in a peaceful location within walking distance of the Sports facilities and Heslington Village, with the centre of the University of York campus only a 15 minute walk.
These rooms were all refurbished to a very high standard in 2011, they had new kitchens fitted and new bathrooms

Please note that York Conferences at the University of York do not accept stag or hen parties and reserves the right to remove you from site should they find that you are a stag or hen party. We would not recommend these houses for families with young children.
History to the present day
Dame Janet Baker, then Chancellor of the University of York, opened Halifax College on 23 November 2003. As the youngest and largest of the University’s Colleges, we are unique in our location and operation.
Food and Drinks
The University of York has several restaurants, bars and cafes across campus, although we would recommend you try the City Centre for at least one evening as there are a wealth of fantastic restaurants and bars.
Grounds and gardens
Halifax College overlooks the sports fields and has easy access to walks. It is only a 10 minute walk from the University of York garden, where you can sit in the 'quiet place' and read a book.
Other facilities
Halifax College rooms are fully self-catered and there is a laundry facility in the college. Security is 24hrs and your self-catering house will include a fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, fridge, freezer, crockery and cutlery. There is a shower room and bathroom in each house, and a washbasin in each room.
Please note: towels are not provided.
Internet access is available on campus, but is charged at £10.00 for the duration of your stay. Please purchase this from the conference office in advance of your stay. This will allow WiFi access in social areas on campus and wired connection in your so. Please bring along an ethernet cable.

Upon arrival please go to Halifax College Porters Lodge to collect your key. The reception is open 24hrs a day.
Car Parking is available in Halifax College is charged at £5/24hrs, £4/10hrs or £2/4hrs. Parking is free from midnight on Fridays and at weekends.The closest car park to the accommodation is Halifax carpark. Please note that if the car park is full you may need to park in Campus South, near the sports centre.
Directions:
The University of York is based just off the A64 South East of the City of York
By Car from the A64: Turn off the A64 at the junction signposted York/Hull and head towards the City. You will pass B&Q on your right. Turn left at the next roundabout following signs for the University. You are now on site. Go right at the 1st roundabout and stright over at the 2nd. Then look for a signpost on your left for Halifax College, Garrowby Way. Go to the last turning on the left to check in at the porters lodge.
By Car from the City: Leave the city following signs for A19/Fulford. At the traffic lights turn left, following signs for the University and Heslington. At the mini roundabout take a right. You will pass Fulford Golf Club on the right and then the sports facilities on your left. Just after this look for a turning on your right singposted Halifax College, Garrowby way.
By train: York has fantastic rail links across the country and booking in advance can provide great deals. The station is only 2 miles from the University of York and will cost around £6-8 in a taxi or you can catch the number 4 bus from outside the station which leaves every tens minutes directly to the University of York campus.
By Taxi: If you are arriving in a taxi, please ask for Halifax College Reception. This will cost £6-8 from the station or city centre.
By Bus: The number 4 bus leaves from outside the railway station and the city centre every ten minutes. The bus takes 10-20minutes depending on traffic and sets of every 10-15 minutes both ways until around midnight. If you ask the bus conducter to let you know where the Heslington Hall stop is on the University of York campus, get off here and walk back on your self past the big red building. Turn right down Heslington Lane and look out for Halifax College, Garrowby Way on the left hand side of the road.
We would not recommend these houses for families with young children.
